VEHICLE: Green 2003 Ford Expedition, Florida tag. Driven by Brian Christopher Newman, of, Cape Coral. Newman suffered no injuries in the crash. Jamie Lyn Christian, of Cape Coral, a passenger in the car, died as a result of her injuries in the crash.
SYNOPSIS:
Vehicle was traveling westbound on NE Pine Island Rd in the outside travel lane and was stopped for the red light at Pondella Rd. For an unknown reason, the passenger exited the passenger side door while the vehicle was stopped at the red light.
As Passenger was exiting, Driver accelerated forward. Passenger fell to the ground and was dragged before coming to final rest. It is unknown if Passenger was caught on something or had not completely exited the vehicle at the time Vehicle accelerated forward.
Passenger suffered life-threatening-injuries as a result and was trauma alerted to a local hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries.
It is unknown if alcohol/drugs are afactor in this traffic crash. Next-of-kin HAVE BEEN notified.
