Stand up and be counted!
Responding to the Census ensures that your community receives fair representation in federal and state legislatures, and is provided a fair share of funding for roads, public transit, healthcare, schools, public safety, housing and so much more.
Census statistics help determine the number of seats each state holds in the U.S. House of Representatives and how billions of dollars in federal funds are allocated to state and local communities for the next decade.
According to Florida’s Department of Economic Opportunity, each uncounted household represents a loss of about $1,500 annually in funding for programs for Lee County, such as Medicare, Medicaid, Federal Transportation grants, and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
For the first time, the Census is available to complete online at my2020census.gov or by phone at 844-330-2020. It’s easy and secure. Residents also may participate by mail, as usual. Field workers have been deployed to locate anyone who has not completed a Census form. https://2020census.gov/
