City Invites Public to Community Park Meetings

The City invites the public to participate in a series of public workshops, which are being conducted to gather input from residents and property owners on the design of community parks as part of the Parks GO Bond initiative. The meetings will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Cape Coral Yacht Club, which is located at 5819 Driftwood Parkway.

The community parks include:

  • (1) Yacht Club Community Park
  • (2) Lake Kennedy Racquet Center
  • (3) Festival Park
  • (4) Yellow Fever Creek Preserve

Each park will be designed with community interests in mind. Community parks are designed to serve a larger geographic area than the surrounding neighborhood. These parks are designed to engage families and visitors with multiple and diverse activities. They serve a broader purpose than the neighborhood parks and meet a wide variety of community needs.

Each meeting will be an open house with instructions on how to participate in the design process. The public can arrive anytime between the hours of 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Display boards will be provided for each community park and comment cards will be available. City staff and the consultant team will be on hand to answer any questions.

  • Yacht Club Community Park: Thursday, October 10 and Tuesday, December 3
  • Lake Kennedy Racquet Center: Tuesday, October 8 and Tuesday, November 12
  • Festival Park & Yellow Fever Creek Preserve: Wednesday, October 9 and Thursday, November 14

These workshops are an opportunity for interested members of the public to review and comment on the community park concept plans. Please note that there will be two public meetings for each community park. The design consultant will refine the park concepts based on feedback from the first public input meeting and will present the refined concepts at the second round of meetings.

For more information, visit the Parks GO Bond website at www.capecoral.net/GoBond. Anyone that wishes to provide input that is unable to attend a meeting can complete a public input form, which is available under the “public input” menu on the Parks GO Bond website.
