Three people were arrested, with two of them being juveniles, after fleeing out of a stolen vehicle upon the arrival of Cape Coral Police officers.
On August 19, 2019 at around 10:00pm, officers responded to the 1000 block of SE 24th Avenue for a suspicious vehicle, a silver SUV that had been sitting in a parking lot for several hours. As officers approached the silver SUV, three passengers exited it and ran eastbound. Officers attempted to locate the suspects, but they ran into a wooded area east of SE 24th Avenue (Lee County Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction).
After a perimeter was set up, K-9 Officer Scrobe and K-9 Carbon began a track to locate the suspects. K-9 Carbon was able to apprehend one of the female juvenile suspects. Another female juvenile suspect was located and detained by Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies at the intersection of Birkdale Avenue and Littlestone Court in North Fort Myers. The LCSO Aviation Unit helped locate the third suspect, Jean Eduard Monchile, by relaying his location to officers on the ground. K-9 Officer Holloway of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Monchile in the 1300 block of SE 24th Avenue.
The silver SUV that the three suspects ran from had previously been reported as a stolen vehicle out of Cape Coral. The two female juvenile suspects were charged with loitering and prowling as well as resisting an officer without violence (misdeameanor crimes). Jean Eduard Monchile was charged with loitering and prowling, resisting an officer without violence and grand theft auto.
“This arrest was highlighted by the combined efforts of the Cape Coral Police Department and Lee County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the observant citizen(s) who called the vehicle in as suspicious. We thank the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.” ~Master Sergeant Patrick O’Grady, Public Affairs Office
