On May 9, 2019, School Resource Officer Negron of Trafalgar Middle School, was flagged down by a teacher while he was assisting with student supervision in the school cafeteria during lunchtime.
The teacher advised that there was another teacher in the staff lounge who was choking on a piece of chicken. When SRO Negron arrived, he observed a substitute teacher coughing. Standing next to the substitute teacher were other teachers to include Nevin Marshall. SRO Negron was advised that the substitute teacher had been eating lunch with the other teachers when she began choking on a piece of chicken so Mr. Marshall immediately jumped into action and performed three abdominal thrusts. This assisted with dislodging the piece of chicken from the substitute teachers throat.
