Woman Flees Police Because She Wanted A Cheeseburger

On February 24, 2019, around 3:08 AM, Officer Leonard was conducting stationary speed enforcement in the turn lane at the 1400 block of Del Prado Boulevard North. A white Kia SUV was seen traveling northbound at a high rate of speed that was measured traveling 61-mph in a posted 45-mph zone.

Officer Leonard caught up to the vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop on the white Kia which continued northbound but did not speed up or slow down. As the Kia continued northbound, Officer Leonard turned on the patrol vehicle’s siren while the emergency lights were still on. The Kia failed to stop and still continued to travel northbound. The Kia’s left turn signal came on and it proceeded to turn left into the gated community of Coral Lakes. The Kia proceeded through the gate, which opened, and into the community where it began to accelerate away from Officer Leonard who then disengaged. The tag on the vehicle was registered to the address 2742 Blue Cypress Lake Court in Coral Lakes. Officer Leonard went to the address, but there were no vehicles in the driveway.

At 3:33 AM, Officer Meadows observed a white female, Tiara Lynn Crace (W/M, DOB: 07/28/1992, 2742 Blue Cypress Lake CT) run from across the street directly to the white Kia, get in and start it. The female then drove off as the officer was attempting to intercept her. Officer Meadows attempted to stop the Kia by turning on the patrol vehicle emergency lights and sirens, but the Kia failed to stop. The Kia then pulled into the driveway of 2742 Blue Cypress Lake Court and Crace ran into the home at the same address. Officer Meadows gave chase on foot into the house where Crace surrendered. Crace told her mother that she ran because she wanted a cheeseburger.

Crace was later transferred to the Lee County Jail.
