Creighton Construction & Development’s sixth annual 7-Eleven Redfish Rodeo Fishing Tournament has raised $41,500 to support the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund.
An annual fundraising event for clients and project partners of Creighton Construction & Development, the catch-and-release fishing tournament attracted more than 150 anglers and 37 boats to the waterways around Cape Coral, Pine Island and Sanibel. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund, which assists veterans who served post 9/11.
“We are passionate about supporting our local veterans, and our annual Redfish Rodeo provides a great opportunity for our clients and project partners to get together for a great cause,” said Dan Creighton, CEO of Creighton Construction & Development.
“Since its inception, Redfish Rodeo has helped provide much-needed financial support for an organization that serves our military veterans in Florida, and we’re honored for the opportunity to give back to those who have dedicated their lives to our country.”
The Wounded Veterans Relief Fund, based in Lake Park, Florida, supports military members transitioning to civilian life through assistance with housing, utilities and transportation, as well as activities and resources to support their ongoing success. The organization does not receive government support.
“Last year, we helped over 940 veterans in the state of Florida,” said Michael Durkee, executive director of the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund. “We’re especially proud that almost 90 percent of donations to the Relief Fund go directly toward veterans assistance, so nearly every penny raised at the Redfish Rodeo will help bridge the gap for veterans struggling in their transition to civilian life.”
At the conclusion of the Redfish Rodeo, the following individuals were crowned winners in these categories:
First Place: Alexis Dwyer, Charley Carpenter, David Niven, Mike Zarrella, Daniel Tubb and Darrin Covert
Second Place: Clay Rebol, Todd Rebol, Nick Koukos
Third Place: Adam Fullington, Mandy Fullington, Julia Phillips, Marley Phillips and Chris Miles
Calcutta Award: Christin Olsen
Monster Red Award: Ron Fair
