Morning Shooting Puts One in Jail

Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service at 2933 Santa Barbara Blvd S in reference to witnesses hearing numerous gunshots.

Once Cape Coral Police patrol officers arrived on scene there was visual contact with a person in the unit in question but they would not initially come out to speak with officers. Additional resources came to the scene to include the BearCat armored vehicle, Cape Coral Police Department Major Crimes Unit and Forensics. Commands were given from the BearCat to the occupants within the unit over the Public Address loud speaker. Two females and a male came out of the unit and were detained. Another male returned to the scene and all four were interviewed by detectives.

One of the females, Chrishara Monique Dawson (B/F, DOB: 01/02/1995, 2933 Santa Barbara Blvd S) that came out of the residence was determined to be the suspect in this incident. Chrishara and her husband got into a verbal argument within the unit at 2933 Santa Barbara Blvd S. Chrishara grabbed a handgun while her husband began to flee. Chrishara chased her husband outside as he was attempting to get to their vehicle to leave. She fired multiple rounds from the handgun at her husband and the vehicle tires. The husband then fled the area in the vehicle but returned after the incident had been deemed safe.

No schools were on lockdown due to the scene being contained. There were no injuries related to this incident. Santa Barbara Blvd S was shut down during the incident and a Ping4Alerts! was sent out advising everyone to avoid the area.

Chrsihara was charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder and later transferred to the Lee County Jail.
