The pet adoption center at Lee County Domestic Animal Services has filled up less than a month after the nationwide “Clear the Shelters” event and that means discounted adoptions for people looking for a pet.
The adoption fee for all cats and kittens will be reduced to just $10 and dogs and puppies to just $15 through Sept. 30 to thank the community for showing support for the shelter, but also to find new homes for deserving pets in Lee County. Adoptions include sterilization; age appropriate vaccinations; county license; microchip ID; de-worming; flea treatment; a heartworm test for dogs; feline AIDS and leukemia test for cats; and a 10-day health guarantee.
An overwhelming number of people expressed interest in adopting pets during the “Clear the Shelters” event, even after all available pets were adopted.
The center is open 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday at 5600 Banner Drive, Fort Myers, FL, 33912. Visit the website www.leelostpets.com to see pets available for adoption or @LeeCountyDomesticAnimalServices on Facebook and LeeAnimalServices on Instagram.
