This month’s local flavor comes from Bury Me Brewing, a great spot located on 41 in Fort Myers.
With a name like Bury Me, I went for one of their constant brews…. 6 Foot Down Oatmeal Stout with ABV of 7%.
Initially as you start to drink this stout, it makes you believe that it will be a filling beer; however, at completion, you don’t feel like you’ve had anything more than a light beer. This is good because you want more than one of these if stouts are your thing.
The appearance of 6 Foot Down depicts the characteristic of a stout being a dark matte brown. The beer was a full body, very thick and creamy with little to no head.
The mouthfeel is smooth, goes down easy, very mild and does not taste like it has a high ABV. It also does not have the inherent high IBU (Bitterness) that many higher ABV stouts have.
The smell is a distinctive coffee aroma, with a hint of vanilla.
I was pleasantly surprised by the taste. I particularly liked how it did not overpower your palate, making this a stout that would go nicely with a meal.
Overall this stout was a fantastic beer. The location had a great theme with lots of games to play and some pretty neat decorations, from skeletons to growler chandeliers, fences in the ceiling, funky crops and a big outdoor patio with picnic tables.
This beah gets a Joe score of 4.23 out of 5 (84.6% out of 100%).
