Thursday morning is the procession and funeral for CCFD Engineer Michael Camelo Jr, who passed away unexpectedly last week from an aneurysm.
The procession will begin at the Gendron Funeral Home (2325 E Mall Dr., Fort Myers) at 10:15 am. There will be approximately 60 vehicles in the procession, 32 of these will be fire trucks from all over Southwest Florida. The map of the route of the procession is below. Engineer Camelo will be carried from the funeral home to the church on Cape Coral Engine 3.
It is expected that the procession will arrive at Saint Andrew Church around 10:45 am, with the funeral set to begin at 11:00 am.
The funeral service will be broadcast live over the CCFD’s Facebook page. As the casket enters and leaves the church, First Responders will muster information around the entrance of the church. At the conclusion of the service, there will be bagpipes, the playing of taps, the presentation of flags to the family, the last alarm radio call, and the ringing of the bell. This will all take place outside of the church.
A map of the church and available parking is below.
The public is welcome to line the route as a sign of respect for Firefighter Camelo and his family. Let’s show the family how much his life and his service to the City of Cape Coral and the Cape Coral Fire Department was appreciated by all.
