Florida Skin Center will welcome Kimberly A. Werner, M.D., F.A.A.D., to the adult/pediatric dermatological facility on Monday, May 14th. Slated to become the third staff physician, she will be based primarily at the Cape Coral office.
A Board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Werner earned a Bachelor of Science degree in neuroscience from the College of William & Mary in Virginia, where she graduated summa cum laude and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Thereafter, Dr. Werner completed her medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School and secured a dermatology residency position. She then completed an internship at the world-renowned Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland.
Dr. Werner is a U.S. citizen who was born abroad in Korea and raised in Indonesia by her artist parents. Her fluency in Korean, medical education, and lifelong eye for beauty and detail gave her the opportunity to perform primary care attached to an infantry unit at the DMZ in South Korea. She served amongst the Korean forces who were training alongside the U.S. troops.
Upon her return to the U.S., Dr. Werner completed a dermatology residency at San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium where she provided medical and surgical care to soldiers, retirees and their dependents at several U.S. Army bases nationwide. She was honorably discharged from the military earlier this month.
Dr. Werner has been published many times in peer-reviewed medical journals and has extensive research experience in the fields of neuroscience, family medicine, and cosmetic surgery, as well as dermatology. She has also presented at educational conferences, including the American Academy of Dermatology conference, before her revered peers.
“Dr. Werner has the discipline and knowledge that Florida Skin Center needs to advance to the next level of dermatological care,” said Anais Aurora Badia, M.D., D.O., Founder. “Her deep-rooted values and humble nature will serve patients and providers well, especially at a location as demanding and ever-growing as Cape Coral. Her diverse background also gives her the distinct skillset of being able to relate to a wide variety of guests, as we like to call those we serve.”
