City Council Passes Resolution Supporting Funding for Autism Center in Cape Coral

Cape Coral City Council passed a resolution expressing support for House Bill 3071, which would provide $102,000 to Family Initiative Inc. to establish the Southwest Florida Autism Center.  The resolution was advanced by District 7 Councilmember Jessica Cosden and approved unanimously at the Council meeting on Monday, January 22.

“As the parent of an autistic child, I know how invaluable these support services can be for families within our community who are affected by autism,” said Councilmember Cosden. “I appreciate our City Council’s approval of the resolution, and I want to thank Rep. Dane Eagle, who sponsored the House bill to provide funding for an autism center.”

HB 3071 received a favorable recommendation from the Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee on January 19 with 11 “yea” votes and no “nay” votes.  The bill was reported out of the subcommittee and is now in the House Appropriations Committee.
