Truline, LLC, based in Naples, announced three Town Hall type forums for waterfront residents of Cape Coral and surrounding communities to learn about the innovative Truline wall system and installing seawalls in rocky soil conditions.
“Hurricane Irma caused devastating seawall and bulkhead failures due to water being pulled out of bays and canals, creating tremendous pressure behind seawalls. This pressure ultimately caused failures at the bottom of the walls” states Scott Yeany, Business Manager and Chief Engineer for the Truline product.
The shallow rock layer, which underlays much of Cape Coral, makes it extremely difficult to secure the bottom of seawalls constructed from conventional building materials. The problem is that those older designs are limited to setting on top of the rock which in many cases is just not a deep enough embedment to be stable during extreme conditions.
“The Truline wall system offers the solution to this issue with its innovative pin-pile installation design. The dual-interlocking forms are driven to and set on top of the rock layer. Steel pins are then driven, or drilled, through the Truline forms down into the rock. The pins firmly anchor the toe of the seawall into the rock and the subsequent placement of the concrete into the forms locks the wall on to the pins. It is a very efficient and positive method for anchoring the bottom of a wall into a shallow rock layer. It is the right wall system for Cape Coral, or anywhere else where there is relatively shallow rock” continued Mr. Yeany.
The town hall forums will present and display the Truline Innovative Retaining Wall solution. Three meetings will be held on January 18, 2018 at the Cape Coral Yacht Club Community Center. The one hour meetings start at 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm, and include time for interactive discussion about the Truline product. The address for the Yacht Club is 5819 Driftwood Parkway, Cape Coral, FL 33904. The town halls are free and open to the public. With limited seating, please RSVP by January 16th to Herb Hutchison at (614) 531-9954.
The Truline seawall system offers a better way to build and protect steel reinforced concrete seawalls for longer service life, and at the same time creating a very aesthetically pleasing flat panel construction. Truline is the only retaining wall system for saltwater applications that offers a lower lifetime cost with a 75+ year design life when properly designed and installed.
