Four local organizations will gather to support veterans and animals on Saturday, January 6, 2018. Heroes and Hounds is a free event to be held at Sun Splash, 400 Santa Barbara Blvd from 11 am to 5 pm. The event is partnered with the Cape Coral Police Department to sponsor the Gulf Coast K-9 Competition and will benefit the non-profit organizations – Holiday 4 Heroes, the Cape Coral Animal Shelter, and the Southeastern Guide Dogs.
Heroes and Hounds is a dog friendly, family festival to support the funding and building of the Cape Coral Animal Shelter, help the Southeastern Guide Dogs organization and Holiday 4 Heroes Care Package Programs to further benefit their missions.
Live music, food and beverage trucks, K-9 demonstrations, carnival style games, and raffle prizes will all be part of the event. Proceeds from the event, including a portion of all food and beverage sales will go to support the featured charitable organizations.
“This is a perfect event to combine our mission of honoring veterans, and support local animal organizations. We are partnering with the Cape Coral Police Department to sponsor the Gulf Coast K-9 Competition and expect a great turnout from all over Southwest Florida. It will be a fun and informative event for all attendees,” said event organizer and founder of Holiday 4 Heroes, Jonette Kessack.
The event will feature the Florida Gulf Coast Police K-9 Competition with the areas sheriff and police departments. Competition will include police K-9 obstacle course, hardest hitting and fastest dog competition. There will also be a K-9 and SWAT demo/display, plus a child and student ID program as well as a face painter for children.
Local businesses will have vendor booths (space is still available), and entertainment will be provided by local bands LCEC Killa-Watts, comprised of LCEC employees and Hit N Runn, a classic Rock and Blues Band comprised of local Rotary Club members.
Southeastern Guide Dogs transforms lives by creating and nurturing extraordinary partnerships between people and dogs. A nonprofit with a national reach, they train dogs of the highest pedigree for people who are blind and for veterans, providing our premier dogs and lifetime services at no cost, without government funds.
Holiday 4 Heroes mission is to show the love, support and appreciation of a grateful nation, by providing necessities and comfort items to those serving our country, all over the world, through the continued support and generosity of businesses, individuals and volunteers.
The Cape Coral Animal Shelter is currently fundraising to create a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter. The organization is dedicated to engaging a special bond between people and animals by means of adoption services, medical care, education and training for the prevention of cruelty and abandonment. The shelter will provide a safe place where animals will receive the care they need and remain until they are placed in a qualified, forever home.
