Hurricane Irma cleanup efforts are underway.
To expedite debris removal in residential areas, we are asking residents to please comply with the following:
-
- Place debris curbside for collection crews ensuring that it is not in the roadway.
-
- Keep separate piles for vegetative debris and construction debris including building materials. Appliances should also be in a separate pile. For more information concerning the separation of debris in accordance with FEMA guidelines, visit www.capecoral.net.
-
- Do not place bagged yard waste in your debris piles.
-
- It’s important to know that mixed piles will not be picked up.
-
- Please be patient. Your street will eventually be cleared of debris.
Residents should continue to follow their normal schedule and guidelines for Waste Pro pickup of household trash, recycling, and non-hurricane yard waste. It is important to keep items for Waste Pro pickup separate from hurricane debris.
For residents who do not want to wait for debris trucks to arrive, there is a residential drop-off site available for residents of Cape Coral to drop-off their own vegetative storm debris at no charge. Please be prepared to show proof of residency with a driver’s license or utility bill. The drop-off site is located near Pine Island Rd. and Andalusia Blvd.; a map to the site is available on the City’s Post Irma Information page at www.capecoral.net.
Residents can follow the progress of debris collection by visiting the Post Irma Information page on the City’s website and clicking on Debris Removal Progress Map. The map shows where crews are currently working and where the first pickup has been completed. Based on the availability of contracted crews and equipment, the City estimates that the first pickup for all residents is to be completed mid-November. We appreciate your patience and are working as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, due to the unprecedented event, it will take time to clear all 3,000 lane miles of roadway. Please be sure to check the City’s website for regular updates.
