Birthday Boy Robber Comes Knocking a Second Time….And Meets the Police

A man accused of robbery at a residence one evening decided to return the following evening on his birthday and wound up spending the waning hours of his birthday in jail.

On October 7, 2017, at approximately 10:15 p.m. Cape Coral Police responded to the 500 block of NE 5th Street. The victim stated that an unknown black male had arrived claiming to need payment from the victim’s roommate who was currently incarcerated. The man went to the roommate’s room, then came back to the victim and forced him to drive to an ATM machine to withdraw money. The victim withdrew cash and gave it to the man, who made threats to come back with his gun if his demands were not met. Detectives with the Cape Coral Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit and Forensics personnel responded to the scene.

The following evening on October 8th at approximately 5:30 p.m. the victim called the police again to report the same man was knocking at his door again. Patrol officers responded and the man, identified as Eddrick Knight (DOB: 10-8-90), fled on foot. Officers chased Knight on foot and were able to detain him. Knight was arrested, charged with robbery and on his 27th birthday was transported to the Lee County Jail.
