While this event is not in Cape Coral, we love to promote anything that salutes our veterans!
This weekend, during the annual Island Hopper Songwriter Fest in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, hit songwriter Dave Gibson will be paying homage to our veterans by performing two new songs about military life.
The first song, “Save Another Patriot” was inspired by a young man who went off to war, came home, and had trouble re-adjusting to civilian life. This song is dedicated to those who have lost a friend or family member to suicide. It was written by Dave Gibson, Jeff Prince, and Tim Mcgeary.
The second song, “These Days” has never been played in public before, and is a tribute to those who served in Vietnam. It was co-written by Dave Gibson, Roger Kirby, and retired Army Captain Carl Conge, and was inspired by Conge’s older brother – a Vietnam Veteran who died of health issues related to the exposure to Agent Orange.
Gibson and Conge are the co-founders of Save Another Patriot (www.saveanotherpatriot.com.) This is a company whose primary purpose is to increase awareness of the number of physical and mental health problems facing many of our military service members, our veterans, and their families.
We urge you to stop in DURING ONE OF THE PERFORMANCES LISTED BELOW, meet Dave and Captain Conge, and listen to some great music. If you’re currently serving in the military, are a veteran, or the family member of a veteran, even better! We expect that both of the new songs will be available for purchase on one CD. Buy a CD for $5.00, and get a free Save Another Patriot sticker!
