Learn About Coastal Environment From Area Organizations

The first annual Coastal Information Day will be held Saturday, June 17 presented by Nautical Mile Magazine at the First Baptist Church, 4117 Coronado in Cape Coral.  Doors open at 9 a.m. The event will have more coastal information in one location than ever available for the local community.

Fishing seminars will be held in the morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. and organizational speakers begin at noon. Lunch will be from local businesses including Lobster Lady, Ceno Grill and Jets Pizza. Scooters Coffee will be available when the doors open. The event will conclude by 3 p.m.  Attendees will also be eligible to win raffle prizes valued over $3000.  Cost is $60 per person and registration can be completed online at www.coastalinfoday.com or at the door the day of the event.

This event is held to give the community an opportunity to learn more about the coastal environment.  From law enforcement to local wildlife preserves, guests will learn what roles they play in the area.

Eighteen speakers have been invited to talk about what their local organization does as part of the coastal community.

Invited speakers include Mote Marine, Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserve, Haven Worth Consulting, SW Florida Power Squadrons, Lee County Visitor’s Bureau, Cape Coral and Ft. Myers Beach Tarpon Hunters, Lee County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit, Ding Darling Society, CROW Animal Hospital, Reel Anglers Fishing Club, the Florida Guides Association, the SW Florida Marine Industries Association, the West Coast Navigation District and Captain’s for Clean Water.

A detailed program will be available with information about each organization. Groups will have literature in the lobby and information about their organization is included in the event program.

“Our publication is fifteen years old and is well known as the source for the coastal community. At the request of new residents, we’ve introduced an annual event as an information session about our coastal environment,” said Jim Griffiths, Publisher, Nautical Mile Magazine.

The First Baptist Church can accommodate over 600 attendees and is centrally located with easy access and substantial parking.
